DataPorts will collaborate with related projects to pursue common goals

The collaboration of DataPorts with relevant, related projects is pursued along two dimensions. First, collaborations are pursued with related projects from the Big Data Value PPP. Second, collaborations are pursued with related projects beyond the Big Data Value PPP. Currently, collaborations with the following related projects beyond the Big Data Value PPP are ongoing:

PIXEL (H2020-MG-2017) will enable a two-way collaboration of ports, multimodal transport agents and cities for optimal use of internal and external resources, sustainable economic growth, and environmental impact mitigation, towards the Ports of the Future. As both projects have several partners in common, the feedback received from the project is constant. The architecture and tools used in PIXEL are being analyzed. In addition, PIXEL is providing continuous information about target audiences and stakeholders. In the future, DataPorts will leverage PIXEL’s experiences and lessons learned on how to approach the implementation of ICT technologies in ports in an innovative way to generate real impact in European maritime transportation.

BOOST4.0 (H2020-ICT15-2017) will lead the construction of the European Industrial Data Space to improve the competitiveness of Industry 4.0 and will guide the European manufacturing industry in the introduction of Big Data in the factory. BOOST was a pioneer in exploring the intersection of IDS and blockchain technology. In fact, an analysis of when to use each technology separate and jointly has been made by IBM that participates in both projects. The results of the work have become part of an MVP in BOOST along with the white paper “Blockchain technology in IDS”, co-authored by IBM. In addition, a blockchain based solution for track-and-trace in the textile supply chain has been developed. This could serve as a starting point for a blockchain based solution for tracking of goods in ports-related supply chains.

Pledger (ICT-15-2019-2020) aims at delivering a new architectural paradigm and a toolset that will pave the way for next generation edge of computing infrastructures, tackling the modern challenges faced today and coupling the benefits of low latencies on the edge, with the robustness and resilience of cloud infrastructures. It is planned to organize a joint Workshop or Hackathon in the field of edge/fog/cloud computing.
